20-Year Prospect

20-Year Prospect

Did you know that folks with gum disease are twice as likely to have heart problems? Well, of course you do: you're a dentist, after all…and the connections being made between dirty mouths and unhealthy bodies are one of the factors driving growth in your career field.

What else is going to keep you staring into the maws of your patients for the next twenty years? Well, there's also the fact that elderly folks today are retaining their natural teeth for longer: seventy-five percent of adults over the age of sixty-five still have at least some of the chompers they got in childhood. This means you've got a lot of cleaning and mouth maintenance to do, so your patients can go to the grave with their smiles intact.

And let's not forget the impact of the Affordable Care Act on your practice. People who've never had decent insurance before are finding themselves suddenly able to afford regular visits to the dentist.

Feel free, then, to kick back in one of those reclining chairs at the office and take a little break. Your job isn't going anywhere.
