You're the Gatekeeper. It's your sworn duty to defend your doctor's time and good mood to the death by keeping his interactions with patients to a minimum. If you're successful in your mission, your doctor will love you and repay you by not making your life miserable.
Also, if you excel at helping and comforting sick and/or terrified patients, you may find they make appointments based on when you'll be working. In fact, you may be so good at your job as Sympathizer-and-Listener-in-Chief that, when you leave one medical facility for another, some patients insist on following you.
No, this doesn't make them stalkers, just really satisfied customers.
