Fame

We don't know too many fame-obsessed police officers. In fact, you'll probably stay as far away from the spotlight as possible. That is, of course, unless you're angling to parlay your law enforcement expertise into a Hollywood movie adviser gig. Or perhaps you're angling to star in the movie yourself.

Here are some other ways you might become famous: arrest a high-profile criminal on the FBI's "Most Wanted" List; tackle a purse-snatcher who's just nabbed a Hollywood celebrity's designer bag; or break up an outrageous altercation with no injuries but with plenty of tabloid value.

If you can't see yourself in any of those scenarios, fame will probably continue to elude you. And most police officers would be perfectly happy with that. They've chosen this career to help their community, not to sign autographs and pander to the press.
