Odds of Hanging On
Because crime is continually on the rise, you shouldn't have any problems hanging on. You're more likely to wind up in the hospital than on unemployment. Not that we necessarily alleviated all of your concerns with that bit of trivia.
Generally, the only reasons you may be relieved of your post is if you act outside the bounds of your employ (unnecessarily provoking or using excessive violence against an inmate), or if you continually exhibit difficulty in breaking up fights. If all you can do is stand around and look pretty, you may be better suited to supervising a study hall than watching over a horde of dangerous criminals.
