Grammar is hard. It's really just a bunch of symbols we came up with forever ago to try and approximate speech. Then people started taking it really seriously. And even if we want to compare those people to certain fascist parties, they're right that grammar is key for clear communication, so we might as well develop good habits early.

But don't sweat it too much. These kindergarten Common Core Standards for Language mostly focus on word identification and meaning, word order, and simple punctuation and capitalization. They ask that we give young students context, readings, and real world objects and actions, just to get the ball rolling.
