"Clear as crystal"

Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

Context

This line is written by John of Patmos in Revelation 21:11.

Here John sees a vision of the New Jerusalem—the one that'll pop up right around the time Jesus comes again. And it's a beaut. It was like a precious stone, and obviously pretty clear.

Where you've heard it

When something's clear as crystal (or "crystal clear"), it's easy to see and understand. Unlike all of the crazy stuff that goes down in Revelation.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

The verdict on this one is crystal clear: not pretentious at all.
