"Funny things are everywhere."

From there to here,
from here to there,
Funny things
are everywhere.

Context

This line is from the book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, by Dr. Seuss (1960).

The world is filled with a whole bunch of silly stuff, right? Well, that's basically the entire plot of One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. As the author points out all the wacky fish in the ocean, he remarks that there sure is a lot of strange and cool stuff out in the world. Like have you ever seen a duck-billed platypus? He's kind of right.

Where you've heard it

Ever seen something a little bit weird? Then you might have heard someone break out this phrase. It's sort of the wacky, rhyming equivalent of saying it's a mad, mad world.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

It's pretty tough to sound hoity-toity when you're quoting Dr. Seuss. This line has equal parts silliness and truth, so who could think that was pretentious?
