Context

This line is written by Matthew in Matthew 26:41.

At this point in Matthew's narrative, Jesus is praying in the middle of the night prior to his crucifixion and Peter, James, and John come along to lend support. But when Jesus comes back, all three are in dreamland, snoozin' away. Jesus can't believe they are sleeping at a time like this, and reminds them that even though they might want to stay awake, their bodies are weak and they need to focus really hard to keep that weak flesh from falling back to sleep.
