Wrapped up like a douche...

Context

This misquoted line is from the song "Blinded by the Light," by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, from the album The Roaring Silence (1976).

If Summer's Eve ever wants a male spokesperson, they should ask Bruce Springsteen, the man who got millions of people talking about douche, even if he didn't mean to do it. Springsteen wrote "Blinded by the Light" in 1973, but when it was covered by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, they changed the lyrics a bit, garbled the pronunciation, and what was supposed to be "revved up like a deuce" became "wrapped up like a douche," which doesn't make a lick of sense.

Springsteen's version, which says "cut loose like a deuce" is much more understandable, but almost as nonsensical. By today's slang, the original line sounds more fit for a laxative commercial than feminine wash.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

We don't know what this quote means, whether it's the right one or the misquote, so we have no clue if it's pretentious or not.
