"You'll get back to where you came from."

"You'll get back to where you came from."

Context

Ralph is staring out into the ocean, wishing that he wasn't, you know, stuck on a deserted island while everyone around him was becoming savage, and Simon starts whispering into his ear.

Totally not creepy.

Sure, what he says sounds comforting—Simon seems to have some knowledge of things that the other boys don't. For a moment, they even smile at each other. But did you notice that he said "you'll" get back...not "we'll" get back?

Yeah...

Since Simon is a prophet-like figure, it's almost like he's predicting his own death.

Where you've heard it

Biblically-named literary characters doing Biblically-themed things? Yeah, we've seen that in a few places:

You get the point.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Nothing to see here, folks.
