The Aeneid Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

R

OK, so it might be true that, in ancient times, people sometimes made fun of Virgil by calling him "Virgo" – i.e., "the virgin" – because he was so shy. And yet, there is sex in the Aeneid, whether it be Dido and Aeneas getting it on inside a cave while the rain is pouring down, or Venus putting the moves on her husband, the god Vulcan. On the whole, though, the Aeneid is most notable for its depiction of desire rather than sex itself. This theme mainly arises in connection with Dido.
