Character Analysis
Though he might show up in the story more than some of the other characters, Fedor Petrovich (also called "Petrischev" in places) is noticeably unnoticeable. He's little more than an appendage to Lisa, Ivan's daughter, whom he's courting. Peter is apparently a good match for Lisa (he happens to be an examining magistrate, after all), and shortly before Ivan's death he becomes Lisa's fiancé. Peter doesn't really say or do anything besides follow Lisa around. He also contributes to the awkwardness of the encounters between Ivan and his other family members just by standing there silently.
