Poor Hera, we seriously feel bad for this lady. Her husband does nothing but cheat on her all the time. It seems like Zeus's constant infidelity has seriously twisted the queen of the gods right where it hurts, since in almost every myth she pops up in, she's hatching some scheme to cause serious problems for some lover or love child of Zeus. So, when Hera tricks Semele into having Zeus annihilate her, it's definitely not a shocker (well, for Semele it is—literally). Some have theorized that all these myths that reduce Hera into nothing more that a wife twisted by jealousy are a way of dis-empowering the possible goddess-run cult that existed in Greece long before the more patriarchal, god-run cult of Zeus began.
