Mr. Whitworth

Character Analysis

This dude is the pie-seller in the Ratbridge market. He not only makes good pies, but also knows what's going on around town. He gives Willbury the scoop on Marjorie's Patent Hall woes, and he gives Willbury a bunch of pies for free, in exchange for bringing some of them to Marjorie.

The book is full of neat little illustrations by the author, so if you go to the back of Chapter 12 (where we see Mr. Whitworth in action), you can peruse a list of his current pie offerings. Pork and sage? Venison and red currant jelly? Sign us up, like, yesterday. It seems like Mr. Whitworth has excellent taste and is interested in contributing to his community—in other words, he's a good guy to have in your corner.
