Eric

We start our journey to Blessed Island with Eric and dive into the mystery and suspense along with him. Eric's actions are often heroic and his good deeds and sacrifices tend to save the day a whole lot. In fact, one of his favorite things to do is the lay down his life to help someone else. That's a standup guy. And that's what makes his death in the end so bittersweet. Sure, he and Merle died united in love, but it's kind of a bummer to see the guy we've been rooting for bleed out on a stone table. Poor, Eric.

Merle

Though Merle starts out as a bit of a mystery, in each subsequent life, we begin to know and love her more and more. Not only does Queen Melle set the whole story in motion by agreeing to follow her husband, King Eirikr, throughout the ages, but Merle from 2073 almost saves Eric on his seventh and final life. She is quick-thinking and loyal to those she loves, which makes her a-okay in our book.
