Calvin Jarrett Timeline & Summary

Calvin takes his wife out for some din-din at a Mediterranean restaurant.
When Beth reveals she wants to go on vacay for X-mas, Calvin doesn't think this is a good idea. Why? Well, their son is still recovering from a suicide attempt.
Beth accuses Calvin of smothering Conrad.
Beth and Calvin repeat this argument ad nauseam for the rest of the book.
Calvin tries to understand his frosty wife, but she shuts herself off more and more the closer he tries to get to her.
At one point, Calvin comes in third in a golf tournament. Well, that's something.
Later, Calvin decides the family can go on vacation together. Hooray?
Then Calvin suggests that Conrad come, too.
That's it. Marriage over. Beth leaves.
Calvin sells the house and moves to a smaller one with Conrad.
Calvin has a heart-to-heart talk with Conrad, now that Beth isn't a wall between them.
Yet Calvin holds out hope that Beth will return one day.
