If you've seen Kubrick's film version of The Shining and wondered what the deal is with the creepy guy in the dog suit, look no further for the answer. According to the ghostly woman Jack is dancing with in the ball, Roger is gay and was once the plaything of Harry Derwent. Roger is in love with Harry and follows him around like a dog. When Danny encounters the ghost, or whatever, of Roger in the hallway, he looks like he might have been drinking blood. There's also the suggestion that he's a child molester, at least in his ghostly incarnation. We don't know if he's alive or dead in 1975, but like Mrs. Massey, the woman in 217, he is a ghastly incarnation of unrequited love.
