Finnigan Timeline and Summary

  • Finnigan rushes through the woods with his dog, Surrender, to get to his friend Gabriel's deathbed. Some bones were just found in the woods that are making Finnigan nervous.
  • In a series of flashbacks, we learn how the two met: Finnigan met Gabriel out by the fence of his house when they were just nine or ten, and Finnigan asked Gabriel to hold onto money he stole from his mom.
  • Reeling from the money incident, Gabriel makes a pact with Finnigan: He will only do good, while Finnigan will do anything bad that Gabriel needs done. Go team?
  • Finnigan starts proving his worth when he burns a local kid's bike and steals a teacher's cat. Gabriel wants to get revenge on people for being jerks to him, and Finnigan's always there to make that happen.
  • When Gabriel shares the story of Vernon's death with Finnigan, Finnigan tells him not to feel badly about it—this one's totally his mom's fault.
  • Finnigan keeps lighting fires all over town, and people start looking for the arsonist causing trouble.
  • When Gabriel confronts Finnigan about how much hurt he's causing, Finnigan simply says that this is the deal they made.
  • Finnigan mocks Gabriel for spending so much time with Evangeline and warns him that he has to choose between them… or else. Oh yeah, and Finnigan's also definitely not going away. So have a blast "choosing."
  • Gabriel takes Surrender to the woods and gives him to Finnigan, but leaves his body behind so his dad can finish him off.
  • After Gabriel kills his parents, Finnigan disappears for a while. He comes back when the bones are found, though, knowing they must belong to Gabriel's parents. People will start asking questions, and Finnigan will be there to clean up the mess when they do. Translation? He'll destroy anyone who figures out Gabriel is the murderer.
  • When Finnigan visits Gabriel on his deathbed, we're expecting a friendly reunion, but instead, we get a fight.
  • Gabriel spills the beans that he doesn't have cancer or anything; he's just trying to rid the world of Finnigan. And since he and Finnigan are the same person, the only way to do that is for him (them?) to die.
