Princess Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee Timeline and Summary

  • Ani is born a princess but not a very happy one—she wishes she could just talk to the birds and hang with animals all day long, but her mom insists she act regal.
  • At least Ani gets to spend time with her dad and her beloved horse, Falada… that is, until her dad falls off his own horse and dies. But wait—it gets worse. While Ani is mourning her dad's death, her mom makes a shocking announcement: Ani won't rule her kingdom of Kildenree; her brother will.
  • When Ani finally works up the nerve to ask her mom what's up with this change in leadership, she learns that she'll be shipped off to Bayern to marry the prince while her bro will rule from home. Say what? She's ticked at first, but eventually she gets used to the idea.
  • Before she leaves for the long trek to Bayern, Ani's mom gives her a gift: a handkerchief with a special power to protect her, along with a few jewels. Ani's not sure whether to laugh or cry at the sudden kind gesture from her mom.
  • On the road, Ani enjoys hanging out with her lady-in-waiting, Selia—that is until she catches Selia sneaking a peak at all of her fancy things. She's not sure what to make of it, but Ani definitely doesn't feel safe.
  • This gut feeling is on point, and Ani and her guards are overtaken shortly thereafter by Selia and the rest of the guards. They try to kill everyone, but Ani escapes and runs to the nearest house in the woods.
  • When she wakes up, Ani finds herself with Gilsa and Finn, some nice forest folk who take her in and give her food. They're not too far from Bayern, so Ani decides to hitch a ride with them when they head over there the following week.
  • But when she gets to Bayern, Ani's not sure what to do—she sees Selia in the palace, dressed up in all of Ani's fancy clothes, pretending to be her.
  • Ani gets a job as a goose girl and makes friends with some of the workers—Enna, Conrad, and Razo. They all love listening to her stories, so she tells them a bunch.
  • Meanwhile, Ani meets a guard named Geric in the pasture and immediately falls head-over-heels for him. He's crushing on her too, but then suddenly disappears one day with a cryptic note that he can't love her "as a man loves a woman." Um, okay.
  • Word gets out that the palace guards are hunting down a yellow-haired girl from Kildenree, and Ani fesses up about her past to Enna, who promises to keep her secret.
  • Ungolad, one of the guards, hunts Ani down and chases her into the forest. There, Ani gets help from Gilsa and Finn again, and even comes across her old guard Talone, who has been nursed back to health.
  • The motley crew sets off for Bayern to tell the king who Ani really is, but he, Selia, and the prince have gone off to another palace for the prince's big wedding day to Ani (a.k.a. Selia).
  • It's off to the palace then. Ani, Talone, Enna, Conrad, Razo, and a couple others head off to tell the king what's up, but when they get there, no one's allowed in except Ani.
  • She pretends to be her sister to get past the guards, then tells the king the truth: the girl pretending to be Ani is really a maid named Selia.
  • Of course Selia says the exact opposite—that Ani's the wannabe—so the king locks them both in a room to work it out amongst themselves.
  • Once he leaves, Selia comes clean to Ani and warns her to back off… or else. Good thing the king's secretly listening from the other room, though, so Selia is totally busted. Now everyone knows Selia is just a poser, so she scrams.
  • Even Geric is there, except he's no guard; he's actually the prince. Ani is excited that the guy she's supposed to marry is actually really cool and already knows her.
  • After convincing the king not to attack her home country, Ani settles in to her new life as a princess at Bayern. And she lives happily ever after (or so we hope).
