Director

Director

Apparently, Director Tom Hooper found out about this movie from his mother, who attended a read-through of the script and called her son to say, "I've just found your next project."

Thanks, Mom! (Or should we say "Mum"?)

Hooper was already a successful director, but The King's Speech would end up launching him into a new realm of fame and success. Hooper would go on to win Best Director at the Academy Awards for The King's Speech and for his next project, he'd be offered Les Misérables, which would earn another eight Academy Award Nominations.
