Kujan doesn't really go on a journey; he only thinks he does.

He believes he's getting the best of Verbal, badgering him into revealing the truth about Keaton. Yet, in reality, this is all totally wrong: Verbal has subtly misled him into believing that Keaton is the bad guy. Verbal's the one who goes somewhere as a character—Kujan is an obstacle he successfully evades.
