A View from the Bridge Writing Style

Colloquial, Heightened

We say colloquial because most of the play is written in dialect. The characters talk like Brooklynites would've spoken in the 1950s. The dialect is probably pretty accurate too, since Miller lived in the area. The only time it gets highfalutin is when Alfieri starts to speak. The narrator injects a lot of intellectual ideas and even poetic language into the play.
