Agnes Scott College
About Me
Intro
Oh my stars and garters, you've come to the right place to hear about me. Let's see, I'm sassy, confident, outspoken, and feisty as all get out. Not to ring my own bell, but I instill these traits in my students, too. My Scotties are real go-getters; they're ambitious types who never stop trying. While here, I teach them to take charge of their lives and change the world by kicking down one door at a time.
Of course they don't always find my lessons easy. Almost all of the classes in my many majors and minors are four credits each (campus favorites include psychology, creative writing, and economics), and I expect all my students to meet this challenge while also being involved in one of my many diverse student organizations. Hey, I told you I'm feisty—I really push my Scotties to be their fullest selves.
Speaking of those selves, they're pretty much all women on my campus (though I'm inclusive to both male- and female-identified trans people). It's how I've rolled since I first opened my doors way back in 1889.
Name
Hometown
Welcome to Decatur, Georgia, a small city with plenty going on. This little urban oasis packs a ridiculous number of amazing restaurants, cafés, and gorgeous trees into its perimeter. It's the perfect place for my students to hang. When they're looking for big city thrills, Atlanta is only about twenty minutes away.
Birthdate
1889
Body Type
Slim but strong. My hundred-acre bod hosts about 900 undergraduates and a small post baccalaureate pre-med program. I'm perfect for you if you like small, cozy class sizes, accessible professors, and a serene campus with lots of greenery. I never get too cold, either; after all, I'm in the South.
If you're looking for huge crowds, frat blowouts, and flashy city lights, I'm probably not the best fit for you. If it sweetens the deal any, though, I'm super popular in the movie biz. People love filming on my beautiful campus.
Current Living Situation
Most of my Scotties live on campus in one of my six epic dormitories, three theme houses, or in the apartment complex less than a block from my main campus. What are theme houses, you ask? Oh, just this really unique and cool living situation I offer my students.
With help from a faculty adviser, students can design their own themed house, enabling them to take their learning to the next level by living it at home, too.
I also have strong commuter love, proven by my comfy commuter lounge that's equipped with couches, a microwave, refrigerators, and a flat screen TV.
Whether you're a lone wolf desperate for privacy, a party animal who wants a full house, or you fall somewhere in between, I have all the living options you could ever ask for. I'm in it for the long haul and so are my students—the majority stay on campus all four years.
Relationship Status
I'm all about peace and inclusivity over here, so I don't really have anything exclusive going on right now. However, if pushed to identify a rival, I suppose I'd point to those pesky Jaguars over at Spelman College. Sisters or not, there can only be one top dog around here—and obviously that's me.
Religion
My roots run deep with the Presbyterian Church, but nowadays I just offer optional Sunday services.
Politics
Years ago, I leaned to the left, strained my back, and there was nothing the chiropractor could do to fully bring me back to center. While I stand on the more liberal side of most social and political issues, I definitely have space for students who don't.
You should apply to me if...
you want to be surrounded by bright, motivated young women who are working hard to take the world by storm.
