Identification (ID) Card
If you’re not quite ready, old enough, or in the market for a driver’s license but would still like to be able to prove to people that you exist, you can apply for a state-issued ID card. To get one of these bad boys, you must be five years of age or older, and you need to present your social security number and an official document showing your birth date to the DMV. Once you receive your card, it will be valid for four years if you are between five and 14 years old; otherwise it will be valid for eight years. You’ve heard how we’re basically different people every seven years? Well, just think of it this way: you’ll need a new identification card to accompany your new identity.
