If you're coming here from somewhere else, and you have a vehicle that was registered in another state, you'll need to get it registered here immediately upon obtaining residency. 

To register an out-of-state vehicle in Michigan, you'll need:

1. a completed and signed Application for Title and Application for Registration.
2. out-of-state title or registration card.
3. proof of insurance.
4. proof of address and identity.
5. whatever SOS fees are required.

Get all of that taken care of and you're officially a Michigan driver. Good luck out there—you.re going to need it.
