If you’re not quite ready, old enough, or in the market for a driver’s license but would still like to be able to prove to people that you exist, you can apply for a state-issued ID card. To get one of these bad boys, you merely need to present two forms of ID, like your social security number, school ID, or birth certificate, to the DMV. Once you receive your card, it will be valid for 5 birthdays after the date of issue. You have to be at least 12 years old to be issued one of these cards, but that’s probably OK. If you’re under 12, you’re most likely going everywhere with your parents anyway.
