Minors’ Rights & Restrictions
You might be a finely responsible young man or woman, but statistics don't lie. You have too many minor brethren that make up the majority of motor vehicle crashes.
So, to protect everyone from your relatively high odds of crashing, we rein you in, especially during your teenage years. Life is hard. Live free or die.
If you're at least 16 years old but not yet 21, you'll be issued a fancy item called a Youth Operator License. This Youth Operator license will expire on your 21st birthday, and you'll turn into a pumpkin.
It's true, except for the pumpkin part.
This Youth Operator License comes with some restrictions if you're under the age of 18:
- Thou shalt not operate a motor vehicle between the hours of 1:00AM and 4:00AM.
- During the first six months after the issuance of the license, thou shalt not operate a motor vehicle with more than one passenger less than 25 years of age who is not a member of the holder's family unless accompanied by a licensed responsible adult who is at least 25 years of age.
- Thou shalt not operate a motor vehicle with more passengers than there are seat belts in a vehicle.
