Abandon Rate

It applies to a few businessy metrics, the most germane of which, to Shmoop, is the abandon rate of a checkout pay-us-nicely page. We do alllll this work to create great product, bring in users, have them fill out forms...but then they don't complete the form. They decide halfway through the Visa card thingie that they don't really think we're worth the eight cents a minute to use our fine service, so the abandon us. The abandon rate in this sense refers to the number of people who begin to fill out that form but never finish before buying. Normal abandon rate for most subscription based purchases on the web: About 30%. Ouch. Sigh. So sad. So sad for Shmoop.
