No longer in existence. BASIC was created in 1970 for the purpose of establishing synonymous rules and procedures in the securities industry. BASIC eventually gave way to the Depository Trust Company. It's also an insult you hear in like every episode of Vanderpump. Like...it's so bad to be basic.
