Licensing Revenue

Categories: Regulations

See: Licensing Fee.

When a movie producer (like Disney Theatrical Feature Film Producers) licenses a movie for 6 weeks to the Syufy Theater Chain, they get licensing revenue from the Exhibitor (Syufy), who is more or less the retailer here. They retail sale the right for patrons to sit in their air-conditioned, cushy-seated theaters for the 2-ish hours or so to watch...whatever, hopefully buy lots of popcorn, and then leave.

The popcorn isn't licensing revenue; the movies rented to exhibitors are.
