MazaCoin

Categories: Banking, Tech

Wouldn’t it be weird if our national currency was a cryptocurrency? Not at all, says Payu Harris, creator of MazaCoin.

“MazaCoin” is a cryptocurrency based on ZetaCoin (which is based on Bitcoin), and it’s the official currency of the Oglala Lakota Nation in South Dakota. Of course, it’s still kind of a new thing—folks are still figuring out what it is and how to mine it—but the goal is that, once it gets going, it’ll provide a method by which the Lakota Nation can self-sufficiently bring itself out of poverty and make plans for a healthy and prosperous future.

Since mining MazaCoin requires a lot less processing power than do other cryptocurrencies, it’s also got potential as an environmentally friendly alternative to heavy power consumers like Litecoin.
