Mine And Yours

Categories: Marketing

When it comes to marriage, what’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine.

Usually. In theory.

But when it comes to trading, “mine” equals “buying” and “yours” equals “selling.” So when Suzie walks up to Marissa on the exchange floor and shouts “mine,” she isn’t staking a claim on Marissa; she’s simply indicating that she wants to buy whatever security Marissa is selling.

“Mine” and “yours” are most commonly used when we’re talking currency trades, but they’re used in other types of trades as well. And not in spousal fish bowl key trading. Totally different movie there.
