Intro

Oh, hey. Sorry, but I don't have a ton of time to talk…I've got all sorts of stuff to do today, like attend my biology lab, jog on over to Eastown to grab lunch (Yesterdog, duh), and still make it to work for my night shift.

I know you might think I'm not all that academically rigorous since I'm just a community college. Or maybe you've watched a little too much Community and you think that I just hang out and take random classes with no hopes of ever really going anywhere, but that's not me at all.

I'm more like Shrek…I've got layers. Like an onion. I like to have fun, but I make the most of my time and money on campus. I've got goals, and I've set a clear path to meet them.

I'm not a gymnast, but I'm really flexible. I can take classes anytime: day, night, weekend, online, hybrid, you name it. I can make it work.

I'm also down to befriend anyone. Were you a valedictorian? I'll challenge you. An adult returning for a career change? I've got you.

Beer City, USA. Also known as Grand Rapids, MI—a mid-size city that manages to feel cozy and hip all at the same time.

What can I say? There's a lot of me to love.

Even though I'm large and in charge, I'm a total shape-shifter. Sometimes I'll look small, like when you peek into my classrooms and see the comfortable class sizes. But if you actually count up all the students, there are about 17,870 of 'em at any given time.

I've got sports teams, clubs, and organizations that'll make you feel like part of the campus, and even though there are so many students. I promise you'll always find a friendly, helping hand close by.

Current Living Situation

I don't offer any room and board. You're on your own there. You'll find tons of off-campus living is available. Heritage Hill is a swanky lil' neighborhood spot that's within walking distance of my main campus.

Basically, it's up to you to find a living situation that works for you. Want a big house with tons of people coming and going? You can find that. Want just one to two buddies to help you study? Yep, you can do that. Want to find a place all to yourself? Do it up.

I make up for my lack of extra rooms in other ways; I've got pretty good dining options, and I even have on-campus daycare for students who have kids of their own already.

And hey, there's always your parents' basement.

Relationship Status

I don't always get along with the Jayhawks over at Muskegon Community College, but outside of sports, I pretty much get along with everybody. In fact, most of the time, I work really hard to build connections to all kinds of other schools. I'm not a bitter ex. I made sure that when students are ready to move on from me, they're welcomed with open arms.

I hang tight with Grand Valley State University and Ferris State University, to name a couple key partnerships. Although, I totally can hold my own against those guys, academically speaking.
