Pennsylvania State University

About Me

Intro

I'm your classic state school. I've been around since the 1800s, I was started by farmers, and I'm way into sports. Alright, enough of that humble façade. I may be for the everyman, but I'm better than classic…I'm way smarter than most of the schools around me. I even have an accelerated pre-med program, which mean you could get into med school after just two years of study. Get ready to be the next Doogie Howser. Well, sort of.

Nestled right in the middle of Pennsylvania, I have the full package. Before you even ask, yes, you can wear sweatpants to class here—especially if they're reppin' the school. Sometimes, it feels like everyone is wearing Penn State clothes every day of the week.

Body Type

Not going to lie, I'm on the bigger side, but I don't think that's a bad thing at all. The beauty of being a large, public university is that I have so many things to offer to students. There's a little bit of everything: stellar academics, Division I sports, research, philanthropy, Greek life, a cute downtown area with shops and restaurants, and we definitely know how to have a good time here.

Not to mention I've got the largest alumni organization in the country. Penn Staters take care of their own. Businesses love coming to Happy Valley to recruit for internships and jobs.

Current Living Situation

So here's the deal. The dorms are really small, but it's an experience that you won't want to trade for anything. You can learn a lot about yourself by living in a dorm. Squeezing you guys into tiny rooms like sardines, while certainly funny, also serves a very noble purpose.

You'll build some of the most intimate friendships (or rivalries) of your life, and maybe you'll find out how much you actually hate reggae music or how long you can tolerate your roommate Skyping past midnight before jumping out of your one-story window.

You're welcome.

On-campus housing is only required for freshmen, and it's likely you'll only be able to get a spot on campus for one year anyway. Upperclassmen usually move into off-campus apartments and houses. The price is comparable for these accommodations and they're mostly located within three blocks of campus.

Relationship Status

I'm single and ready to mingle, but don't even think about asking for my number if you wear Ohio State red, Michigan State green, or Michigan blue and gold. Actually, now that I think about it…I'm doing just fine on my own. I love to have fun and I'm not going to let anyone stop me.

You should apply to me if...

you love to have fun and get involved. One of the greatest parts about being a Penn Stater is the camaraderie throughout the student body and alumni network.
