All men must die.
Context
This line is spoken by Jaqen H'ghar, played by Tom Wlaschiha, in the show Game of Thrones (2011-present).
Ripped from the pages of George R. R. Martin's bestselling series, Game of Thrones is the saga of nine noble families doing all kinds of awful things to each other in order to gain the Iron Throne of the fantasy kingdom of Westeros.
If you're a Martin-head, then you already know that "All men must die" is "Valar Morghulis" in the ancient (fictional) language of High Valyrian. We first hear it in the series when the face-shifting assassin Jaqen H'ghar tells young Arya Stark to say "Valar Morghulis" and give a particular iron coin to any person from his home city of Braavos, if she ever wants to learn a thing or two about being a face-shifting assassin.
Here's the clip.
Where you've heard it
If you can't handle all the blood and boobs of Game of Thrones, you've still probably seen "All Men Must Die" fly by on the side of a bus, since it was used as a slogan for a season of the show. The quote hasn't been referenced nearly as much as "Winter is coming," House Stark's motto, but the show itself gets shout-outs all the time. Maybe you saw the episode of The Simpsons that parodies GOT's opening, or that South Park where Butters tracks down George R. R. Martin, demanding an answer or two.
Pretentious Factor
If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.
The pretentiousness factor doubles if you say it in High Valyrian.
