Context
This line is from the song "Rocket Man" by Elton John, from the album Honky Chateau (1972).
Yeah, you're not the only one who thinks this song is suspiciously like David Bowie's "Space Oddity." But, whatever, it's still a good song, and who says there's not room for two songs about lonely astronauts? "Rocket Man" is actually said to be inspired by Ray Bradbury's short story "The Rocket Man." Like in the Elton John song, Bradbury's main character is an astronaut missing his family, while on the way to Mars.
And without further ado, here's Elton.
Where you've heard it
You might've heard this chorus on all kinds of TV shows and movies, but the best version of this song you're gonna find (besides Elton's) is either this weird spoken-word version by William Shatner or Stewie's version on Family Guy of the weird spoken-word version by William Shatner.

Pretentious Factor
If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.
