Source: Napoleon Dynamite

Speaker: Randy

"Give me some of your tots."

Napoleon, give me some of your tots.

Context

This line is spoken by Randy (played by Bracken Johnson) in Napoleon Dynamite (2004), directed by Jared Hess.

We think that lunch in high school was way too short. There's the line for whatever slop the cafeteria is serving that particular day, then you have to find the right seat, and after that, there's barely any time to shovel food down your hungry trough of a mouth. (Sorry about all the pig metaphors.)

For these reasons and others, eating scrumptious tater tots in class is sometimes necessary.

Except boneheaded, crewcut not-rocking jocks like Randy will inevitably want your food. And Napoleon isn't into that because he hasn't had time to eat all day between drawing ligers, telling his friend Deb it's okay if she drinks whole milk, and helping Pedro become class president. And it gets worse when Randy crushes Napoleon's tots in his pocket, and no one can enjoy their warm potato-ness.

He's a "freakin' idiot" indeed.

Where you've heard it

You've heard this when you hit up the local Sonic, or another fast food joint in your locality, and your friend wants to partake in lovely tater tots. They better not crush those fragile little guys.

Jon Heder and Efrem Ramirez, who played Napoleon and Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite, recreated this scene in a 2016 Burger King ad for the restaurant's new cheesy tots. 12 years after Napoleon's debut, and Pedro/Efrem is still rocking that little mustache.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Asking for a fast food/diner/cafeteria staple is a wonderful, non-pretentious thing to do. Bonus points if you can quote the line in Napoleon's basso profundo meets monotone.
