When Harry Met Sally Quotes

Context

This classic line is spoken by a deli patron played by Estelle Reiner (the director's mother) in When Harry Met Sally (directed by Rob Reiner, 1989).

Back in 1989, when Billy Crystal was considered attractive and Meg Ryan still had her original lips, the two starred in a romantic comedy that explored the idea, "Can men and women just be friends?"

Over a sandwich at Katz's Delicatessen, Sally (Ryan) tells Harry (Crystal) that all women have faked an orgasm at some point. Harry doesn't believe her, so she demonstrates it, right over her corned beef sandwich.

After her performance, the camera cuts to a patron who tells the waitress, "I'll have what she's having." Must be a good, um, sandwich.

Where you've heard it

This whole scene was the basis for Herbal Essences' ad campaign for years. Lather, rinse, repeat, indeed. 

It was also the title of a book about social behavior and  another book about celebrity diet plans. 

Pretentious Factor
