"Lazarus, come forth."

And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Context

This line is written by John in John 11:43-44.

Jesus' is performing one of his most sensational miracles here—raising his friend Lazarus from the dead. All he had to do was call out to Lazarus, and his dead friend rose again and walked right out of his tomb, all wrapped up like a mummy.

Where you've heard it

Lazarus has sort of become a symbol for anything that is resurrected. There's a chance you'll hear this when someone figuratively (or literally if you're lucky) brings something back from the dead—from an old motorcycle to a once-dead movie character.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

This one's so easy to use ironically that it's usually pretty safe.
