One unique thing about the Doctor, the protagonist of Doctor Who, is that he doesn't die, but regenerates and takes a different face and personality. This is also a super clever way to switch actors in a long-running show. The 11th regeneration of the Doctor (played by Matt Smith) is a little bonkers, with his fondness for bowties, silly dancing, and dipping fish sticks into custard.

But the Eleventh Doctor still can do the whole world saving thing, and constantly proves to his companions that he can get down to business when he needs to. The Eleventh Doctor is very eccentric and a tiny bit crazy, but the planet Earth is definitely in good hands while he's flying around in his blue police box turned time machine.
