This line is spoken by James Bond, played by Sean Connery, in the film Goldfinger, directed by Guy Hamilton (1964).

Only Sean Connery's James Bond could order a drink and end up chiseling three words into permanent cinematic history. When asked his drink order in Goldfinger, the Bond film with the best theme this side of Skyfall, Bond says, within two seconds, "A martini, shaken not stirred."

Where you've heard it

You hear this line whenever someone orders a martini and wants to pretend they're Sean Connery...even though they're actually more like George Lazenby.

And some scientists overthought that whole shaken, not stirred thing in 2013.
