Do you put the fun in functions, or is rational the last thing you feel when you encounter a rational expression? Was PEMDAS the name of your first dog, or is FOIL just something you wrap lovingly over last night's meatloaf? (You may think we've run out of math puns, but we're just getting warmed up.) Write and Solve Linear Functions
We've said it once, and we'll say it again: Linear functions occupy the most space on the EOC Algebra I test. There's no escaping them. Dun dun dunnnn!
Seriously, linear functions take up more room on this test than Imelda Marcos's shoe closet. We aren't complaining, though, because linear equations are the best! And, you know, they're the most….linear.
In this section, we turn our attention toward writing and solving these wondrous degree-one equations. Allow us to celebrate this section with a brief Dr. Seuss-like poem.
One point, two points.
Red slope, blue slope.
Linear equations from a graph.
Linear equations from a giraffe.
The giraffe thing may be stretching it a bit (get it?), so we promise to stick to equation-writing rather than poetry from now on. However, bad puns are always on the table.
Get ready to tap into your inner pirate too, as this section finally gives us the chance to find x! Arrrggh maties. This section covers various methods for solving all sorts of linear equations. So strap on your wooden leg and eye patch and let's see about them Big Issues.
