Mr. Dermott Timeline and Summary

Mr. Dermott is the cool teacher/counselor at Raynesville High.
He takes an interest in an overweight student named Amy, and one day he saves her from social awkwardness by offering to be her partner on a class project. Swoon.
Mr. Dermott counsels Amy and gradually starts an affair with her.
When Amy announces that she's going to report him to the school board, Mr. Dermott freaks out, follows Amy's car with his motorcycle, and watches as her car swerves off the road and over a cliff.
Mr. Dermott knows Amy died accidentally but says nothing when her death is ruled a suicide and even pushes the theory that Jake West is to blame for Amy's heartbreak and suicide.
Mr. Dermott takes a liking to Amy's cousin, Dani, when she moves to town; he suggests that Dani might get a swimming scholarship.
Mr. Dermott talks to Dani about Amy, but isn't very forthcoming with details.
He also tells Jake to stay away from Dani and warns Dani about spending too much time with the guy who drove Amy to suicide.
When Dani tells Mr. Dermott that Amy left a diary, he panics and breaks into her house to see if the diary has any incriminating info in it.
The next day, he confesses to having an affair with Amy and being there when she died.
Mr. Dermott and Jake fight, but Mr. Dermott runs away.
We're left to presume that he'll be caught and pay for his crimes. Let's hope so.
