Royal Loomis

Royal loves a lot of things. Royal loves farming, and Mattie can see that he'll be a better farmer than his father or brother; Royal loves talking, especially about farming; and Royal loves his mother, so much so that he's willing to kick a widow and seven kids off their land to help his mother regain her dignity. Royal also loves fishing and nature.

But Royal doesn't love Mattie. And Mattie doesn't love Royal, though she does think he's the hottest ticket in town. Fortunately for Mattie, she's able to figure out the difference between physical attraction and love before she makes the mistake of a lifetime.
