Princess Jasmine (Linda Larkin)’s Timeline and Summary

  • Jasmine is the only daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah. She's around 16 years old.
  • Jasmine's got to marry a prince before her next birthday, which is in three days. Tick, tock.
  • But Jasmine doesn't like all these oppressive rules, so she decides to run away. Out on the mean streets of Agrabah, she accidentally steals an apple and is rescued by Aladdin.
  • The two escape and share a moment during which they discuss how trapped they feel in their different circumstances. That is…before Aladdin gets captured by the guards.
  • Jasmine tries to get Aladdin released by revealing that she's the princess, but the guards take him, anyway. Hey, it's Jafar's orders.
  • Back at the palace, Jasmine takes things up with Jafar. What exactly happened to Aladdin? Turns out Jafar had him killed. Jasmine is horrified.
  • Next time she sees her father, Jasmine tells him exactly what happened, and the Sultan gives Jafar a mild talking to. Jasmine cannot wait to get rid of this guy when she's in charge of Agrabah.
  • Just then, a huge parade comes into town. Some new prince is looking to win Jasmine's hand by flashing his money around. She's not impressed.
  • Inside the palace, Jasmine hears her father, Jafar, and this suitor talking about marriage, and she goes on an epic rant.
  • This Prince Ali character flies up to Jasmine's balcony and tries to win her over, but she doesn't like his pompous attitude. It's only when she spies his flying carpet and begins to expect that he's the boy that saved her in the marketplace that she softens towards him.
  • Jasmine and Prince Ali go on a magic carpet ride around the world and share a song.
  • Jasmine also lets Prince Ali know that she's on to his secret identity. What? Did he think she was stupid?
  • Back at the palace, Prince Ali and Jasmine kiss. Oh, Jasmine is so marrying this one.
  • But before Jasmine can tell her father the good news, the Sultan announces that she has to marry Jafar. What the what?
  • Prince Ali rushes in to free the Sultan from Jafar's spell, and Jasmine is eternally grateful to her new beau.
  • On the day Jasmine and Prince Ali are going to announce the engagement, Jafar magically becomes sultan. Then he uses his sorcerer's powers to force Jasmine to bow to him. He unmasks her sweetheart: turns out he's not a prince. Just Aladdin.
  • Jafar tries to use his third wish to have Jasmine fall in love with him, too, but Jasmine creates a diversion so that Aladdin can sneak in and grab the lamp.
  • While Aladdin is fighting Jafar, Jasmine gets trapped in an hourglass that's filling up with sand. Aladdin breaks her free in time to see Jafar become trapped in his own genie lamp.
  • Jasmine forgives Aladdin for lying, and they're able to get married when the Sultan changes the law so that the princess can pick whoever she wants as a husband. Huzzah.
  • Jasmine and Aladdin fly off on a magic carpet ride of love and happiness.
