Character Analysis
Sylvia Levov is the Swede's mother. She's a traditional housewife and seems to be a kind and loving woman. Interestingly, she's the family member who seems to find it most natural to talk about Merry and speculate about what's happened to her.
Like Lou, she seems to love Merry very much and probably doesn't believe Merry's guilty of the crimes she's been accused of. She thinks of Merry in the same way she thinks of draft-dodgers and believes Merry fled to Canada.
