Annie John Timeline and Summary

At age five, Annie John allowed to venture out on her own to pick up some herbs for her mother at a store down the street.
At age ten, Annie's adoration for her mother cannot be described in words.
She has a major growth spurt at age twelve and starts to menstruate.
Annie's mother distances herself and no longer "babies" Annie. Annie, in turn, starts to hate her mother.
Annie sees her parents hooking up in their bedroom. Now she really starts to hate her mother.
Annie befriends Gwen and the Red Girl.
Then she defaces Columbus picture in history book, steals public library books, plays marbles and lies to her mother.
A smart girl, Annie succeeds in school and gets promoted to higher "forms" (or grades).
Then she gets deathly ill, hallucinates and her grandmother, Ma Chess, saves her with obeah.
Annie leaves Antigua for a nursing career in England.
