• On the Tuesday before Labor Day, Margaret and her family move to Farbrook, New Jersey.
• Margaret meets her neighbor and soon-to-be bestie Nancy Wheeler.
• Margaret's dad nearly chops off his finger trying to be all DIY and mow his own lawn, which luckily leads to hiring Moose Freed is hired to mow the Simons' lawn.
• On Labor Day Grandmas Sylvia visits, making sure her Margaret is making the transition to Jersey okay.
• Margaret goes to the first day of school, ready to be one of the cool kids and wearing loafers sans socks.
• Margaret goes to the first meeting of Nancy's special club and meets Gretchen Potter and Janie Loomis.
• After the first meeting of the Four PTS's, Margaret convinces her mom to get her a bra.
• Margaret makes her first solo visit to see Grandma Sylvia in NYC. While there, she tells her that she wants to try temple.
• With her parents' reluctant agreement, Margaret gives temple a shot on Rosh Hashanah.
• Square Dance time: the sixth graders hit the (cheesily decorated) gym for a good old-fashioned square dance.
• It's supper party time at Norman Fishbein's, boys and girls.
• Margaret goes to Christmas Eve services with the Wheelers.
• Back at school after break, it's time for "the big deal sex movie" (15.12).
• Nancy goes to New York with the Wheelers for the day and finds out that Nancy had lied to her about getting her period.
• Margaret turns twelve. And starts wearing deodorant. Because those two things are directly related.
• On Margaret's birthday, Mr. Benedict starts the class on a group work project. Margaret is working with Norman Fishbein, Philip Leroy, and Laura Danker.
• After a showdown with Laura Danker on their group work project, Margaret follows her to the Catholic Church and ends up in Confession.
• A week before Margaret is set to visit Grandma Sylvia in Florida, a letter comes from her mom's parents announcing their first visit in fourteen years.
• Margaret's trip is canceled and the Grandparents Hutchins visit. It doesn't go well.
• All the fuss leads to Margaret refusing to talk to God.
• Margaret finally patches things up with God when she gets her period (she's not the last one).
