Miss Amelia

Miss Amelia's the horse we want to bet on, even though she may not be very easy to identify with at the start. Generally, we like people who like people, and Miss Amelia would rather be alone. But as we watch her careful care of the unfortunate Cousin Lymon, we get a load of her soft heart. In the end, she's the one to root for, and the one whose heart is breaking at story's end.
