Volume of Pyramids & Cones Examples

The base we are dealing with in this pyramid is the triangular base on the bottom.

The height of this pyramid is shown as the perpendicular line to the left of the pyramid. It is 7.1 cm.

The base of this cone is a circle with a radius of 5 cm.

The height of the cone is 10 cm.

A cone whose base has a diameter of 4 inches and a height of 8 inches is  of the way full. How much empty space is left?

First we need to find the volume of the whole cone.

One-fourth of the cone is empty so:
